Modern youth centerandyouth-friendly centresprovided by the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) forthe purpose of helpingyouthaged 13 to24 years to go their through adolescent years with confidence and ease

kafe@TEEN adolescent centre provided service since November 2005 in Butterworth and NPFDB Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur. As of2014, there are 14 kafe@TEEN adolescent centres have been established at :

7. kafe@TEEN Adolescent Centre Burmah Road, Penang.
8. kafe@TEEN Adolescent Centre Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Adolescents are require to register as member of Sahabat kafe@TEEN to use the facilities and services of the kafe@TEEN Adolescent Centre .The total number of new Sahabat kafe@TEEN recruited from for the first three youth centers since 2014 was over 46,302 young youth.

kafe@TEEN  Adolescent Centre premises operate from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Meanwhile, at UTC Centres from Monday to Sunday from 8.30 am to 10.00 pm. The services provided are free of charge.

 Objectives

1.   Improving the health status of adolescents in term of   physical, mental and social ;
2.   Inculcating moral values of youths health and social development, and
3.   Inculcating positive attitudes toward adolescent health and development of social physical and mental.

Functions

1.   Helping teens cope with adolescence with comfort and without hesitation;
2.   Provide counseling and health services to help teens overcome physical, mental and social teens;
3.   Giving teens opportunities for youth to meet with  friends and share experiences and new ideas, and
4.   Empowering youth through guidance  and education.

Education and Skill Development

The functions of these components are as follows:

Adolescent Reproductive Health Services

1.   This service is available to give advice on problems that include aspects of reproductive health, weight management, mental health, dermatology and quit smoking.
2.   Clinical sessions along physicians performed twice a week and  assisted by NPFDB nurses
3.   Adolescent Health Screening form is used as an instrument to identify adolescents who have health problems.

Adolescent Counseling Services

1.   This service is available to assist teens in recognizing potential, personality, skills, abilities and potential in terms of emotional, cognitive and behavioral.
2.   Advising  on personal problems, conflicts in themselves, peer conflict and educational problems Counseling sessions (individual or group) conducted twice weekly by NPFDB counselor.

Education and Skill Building Activities

1.   Activities carried out in the form of Teen Talk, Teen Chat, talks and workshops that cover the skills of teens and reproductive health.
2.   This educational activity carried out by experts and Teen Educator dealing with teens sexuality, healthy eating teenagers, personal development for teens and teens social issues.
3.   In addition, kafe@TEEN Adolescent Centre  also hold ancillary activities such as recreational activities, aerobics, sports and other teens to spend their time.
4.   The team or staff running the kafe@TEEN Adolescent Centre consists of Medical Officers, Nutrition Consultant, Information Officers, Nurses, Counselors, and Teen Educator. Teen Educator is selected from the youth and their role is to undertake social activities, recreation, education and skills development for youth in schools and higher education institution.  Youths are free to ask any questions regarding reproductive health and social education. 

Training Modul

I'm In Control Module (Cakna Diri) consists of three componentsim-in-control-modul

1.   Component 1 contains information about reproductive health, especially with regard to sexuality, values and responsibility, and risk behavior that leads to sexual transmitted diseases and pregnancy and HIV / AIDS.
2.   Component 2 focuses on skills and techniques for delay and refusal of sex before marriage.
3.   Component 3 highlights the issue of safe sex as abstinence as personal protection as well as methods of birth control and sexually transmitted diseases. This module has been developed in the form of interactive learning and using a variety of methods such as role playing, drawing, group work and discussions to attract the youth.

‘Kesejahteraan Hidup’ Module

‘Kesejahteraan Hidup’ Module consists of four components, namely sex and gender, family, and life skills development without violence. This component aims to improve the understanding, awareness and skills of youth with the policies and laws of the country, and government commitment to international treaties. This module has been developed in the form of interactive learning using a variety of methods such as role play methods, sketches, working groups and discussions to attract teenagers and young adults.
